I've been following Kings for a while now but it kind of just took a turn for the trashy. For one thing, they killed the queer. Jack's boyfriend, outs Prince Jack and then kills himself.
Yawn.
It was hands down the least emotional moment in the show, given that while Princess Michelle and farm boy turned soldier turned King's Aid David hog all the camera time with their fairly insipid love affair. King Silas also hogs the remaining time with his mistress and bastard son. Scant moments are used to develop Joseph, Prince Jack's lover. They could have spent at least as much time with Joseph as they did with the king's mistress. It's pretty shrug worthy. I dunno. We'll see how the end of the season goes.
In other news, Virtuality was...not awesome but fun.

Is anyone aware of any books covering a broad overview of masculinity studies? I'd like to know.

I got a copy and...wow. Cray-z.
Crazy.
Crazy crazy crazy good.
I've always had an affection for this particular time period and counter tenors. The music itself is sublime. Clearly. Sublime, but the playing here is so fine...so intimate. This recording is incredible in an of itself. Part of me wonders if the musicians are rebelling from their classical training and taking small liberties to breathe life into the pieces. The sheer quality of it, the way the instruments articulate against one an other...it's like nothing else I've heard in the classical world. It's really a big shiny gem of art songs.
Here is Venus Birds (thanks to
morimur for pointing him out.
If I were king, this would be a top 10 hit.
Not from Crystal Tears but here is him singing Black Is the Color...

Go guy all her records now!
My friends in tEETH are at the FuseBox Festival on May 2nd. If you're looking for a really weird time in the dance theater world. Check them out!
I need a list of one person or monologue shows that you liked. Extra points if they were filmed. Can be any genre but extra points if they could qualify as 'outsider art'.
Thanks!

or did Heroes finally get good again.

Not super familiar with Roxy Music I for some reason got the urge to go and check out their stuff.
This is Ladytron. I like their stuff b/c it nearly stops making sense, but never quite gets there...
Here is Do The Strand
Edit: I just got hold of a copy of For Your Pleasure and it's fucking out of control. All the squalling anti-solos. The noise! The beat! The noise! I love it.

Yeah...um. I just got around to listening to Zelenka's Lamentations of Jeremiah and from the first phrase it's not only other worldly strange and disquieting it is unbelievably discordant, especially considering when it was written. In certain places it's impossible to tell the difference between the stringed instruments and the vocal instruments. Completely fascinating. Completely.

Your both crap programs. Your crash. Often. If I wanted that shit I'd use a PC.
Thanks,

This video gave me the sniffles.
I think their singer is hot shit.
I went to see it at Portland Center Stage. More later but it is absolutely the BEST thing I think they have ever done. It was nothing short of excellent and amazing. Seattle, you should be jealous. Portland has has some great theater going on.
